THE EPA REQUIRES A HEPA
FILTER for lead removal. The filter should be certified!
Successful lead pickup means you need a real strong vacuum. It must
outdraw the sander and the edger. The real cost of a job will be the HEPA
FILTER. If the filter clogs up in 1 job that will be expensive. That means
filtration before the HEPA is very important. First our cyclone catches
99% of the dust and debris in the barrel - bag. The second - main filter
stops most of the dust before the HEPA. The 40 SQ ft filter is necessary
to allow the filter to skim over and still allow 600 cfm at a particle
size about 4 microns. The output air than goes through the 1200 CFM
oversize HEPA filter. An output hose can be added after the HEPA to allow
the air to exit outside, this reduces heat and causes an effective
negative air pressure in the sanding area. Our HEPA filter measures 1' x
2' x 1' and is certified.

Notice that the cyclone is large to allow for a 4" hose.
Remove the motor head and the main filter is easily accessible. There is a
readily accessible dustpan that needs to be emptied after sanding 1000
feet.
 
Transporting is best in class! The barrel separates
from the main cabinet and rolls on its own wheels. The main cabinet can be
rolled on 2 main wheels like a hand truck. The motor head comes off with 4
simple catches and can easily be carried using the 2 handles. All pieces
fit in a normal van. Notice how the barrel tips back and latches onto the
main unit. This allows the barrel and main cabinet to make a single unit
that moves like a shopping cart.
Our Dustjet can outdraw the sander and an
edger. That means if you get a hole or leak in a fitting air will go in NOT OUT!
This is needed for lead paint pickup and true dustless sanding.
Clean the main filter by simply vacuuming it
about every 3 -4 average jobs. Its size allows it to fit through a 30" dooorway.
It comes apart easily to carry it up stairs.

Great operating tests!
Try This ultimate test. With the sander running hold the
main hose 6 Inches away from the dust pipe exhaust port. Move it in closer. As
you get closer does the dust system suck up all the air or is their
blowby? When you are ½” or less away there should
not be air blowing out if the dust system can outdo the vacuum on the sander. If
there is vacuum (air being drawn into the hose-dust pipe junction) than the dust
system is adding vacuum pickup to the sander’s onboard vacuum.
Edger test! When sanding does the edger pickup existing
dust in front of the edger? This usually is more noticeable with a dust skirt on
the edger. Check this out with the big sander running!
