Red rubber drums are covered and precision ground at operating speed and then balanced. DRESSING THE DRUM - We recommend that after installation sandpaper shims ( 2-80 grit and your shims ) should be clamped in the drum and then the machine leveled. With no drum tension, the drum should be ground on a flat surface mounted with 50 grit paper using as little pressure as possible until all surfaces of the drum are ground. This is a common cure for chatter if done right. Also note that it is important that the drum is tight on the shaft. Put on new bearings, good pulleys, new belts and also check that motor is tight. Next round off the outside edges with sandpaper as per their customers specifications. NOTE: We would like to know what size shim you use on your 80 grit cut. This makes a difference in balancing. Recovering cost is $ 210.00 for a 8" and $230 for a 12" ( an additional charge for thicker 5/8" rubber may be charged). !!! NEW CLAMPS 8" $75.00 12" $75.00 with recovery for American 8 & 12, Clarke and porter cable 504, f89,f87,PC12, and 8" galaxy Clamps, welding, and drum bushings are extra. |
